    Symptoms of a broken tooth

You can get any of your teeth broken. If it is the canines or front set, you can normally see it or experience it then and there. In the case of molars, most people do not understand that there is a crack in the molar. When your teeth break at your gum line, your tongue will help you to feel that a part of the tooth is missing. For reassurance, you can put a torch light inside your mouth and visualise the condition of the teeth.

Generally, the broken tooth appears pinkish or yellowish. The colour change is due to the exposure of dentin and the pulp that lies inside your tooth. If the broken tooth appears to be brownish or blackish, it is a clear sign of tooth decay. When the inner pulp from the truth comes out, your nerve roots will start aching. Also, sharp edges from the broken tooth may cause inflammation in the surrounding area inside the mouth.

    What to do next?

When you have a broken tooth the very next question that comes to your mind is: “what should i do now?” first and foremost do not panic. There is no point in panicking and creating a mess in the house over a broken tooth. Your goal now should be to figure out a solution to that broken tooth.

Understand that a broken tooth is a dental emergency to which medical aid should be applied as soon as possible. So, whenever you notice that you have a broken tooth the very first thing that you need to do is visit a dental clinic or a dentist chamber. The sooner you can reach out to a dentist, the lesser the chance of oral complications. If the broken tooth is located below the gum line, then it might require extraction.

In most cases, it happens that your tooth comes off while you are travelling. In such a situation, you cannot reach out to your preferred dental clinic. Therefore, we recommend you keep the phone numbers of dentists or dental clinics that treat dental emergencies.

    How to treat broken teeth?

There are several ways to diagnose a broken tooth. The way a professional dentist will treat a broken truth depends on its condition and intensity of breaking. So, you can understand the treatment only after the dentist has inspected the tooth. Given below are the ways by which you can treat a broken tooth:

    1. Reattaching broken fragment

In some cases, the dentist may suggest reattaching a broken tooth. However, bonding the broken tooth becomes very difficult if it lies deeper in your gums. Once the dentist can attach the original tooth, it appears to be aesthetically pleasing as the natural texture and the colour of the tooth retains. Reattaching a broken tooth is a simple process. To do so, the dentist will use one of the many bonding agents. Sometimes the dentist may feel like combining this process with a root canal.

    1. Root canal

In the process of a root canal, the dentist first removes the pulp that has blood vessels and nerves from the middle portion of the tooth and replaces them with a rubbery and stretchy filling. Generally, a dentist prefers to go ahead with the root canal if he finds that the inner portion of the broken tooth is either inflamed or infected with cavities. In some cases, the dentist combines a root canal with a filling or reattachment technique.

    1. Extrusion techniques

In the extrusion technique, the dentist slowly moves the tooth out of the socket to save the tooth. To conduct this technique, the doctor will ask you to wear aligners and braces to put a downward force on the tooth to allow it to get fixed. As soon as the top of the tooth gets exposed, the dentist will apply the crown.

    1. Crown or filling

If there is a minor breaking on the tooth the dentist may use a filling to fix a broken tooth. He may also so get your tooth with the crown to cover the exposed portion. If the dentist notices that there is not enough space for the crown, he may go ahead with the crown lengthening process.

    1. Tooth replacement or extraction

If the dentist says that the broken tooth cannot be repaired by any means, he will suggest pulling out the tooth. He will then go for the various replacement options available at hand like dental bridges, dentures, and endosteal implants.

    Conclusion

Now that you have an idea about how to deal with a broken tooth, you will surely not have any more problems when you experience the same. Above all whenever your teeth break schedule your appointment at emergency dental clinic in London to get the best results.
