    What Do You Insure?

The kind of insurance you are covered by can affect the amount of dental coverage. Dental insurance with benefits can be beneficial, but it could have some limitations. Contrarily an insurance plan that is direct to the dentist is flexible and offers more options for coverage. Here are the dental health procedures that insurance plans can include:

    • Preventative dental care: Includes routine office visits and professional teeth cleaning.
    • Basic Restorative Care: For dental treatments like crowns and fillings.
    • Endodontics: For root canals.
    • Dentistry: Tooth extractions, tissue biopsies, the drainage of infections caused by bacteria, and the placement of dental implants.
    • Orthodontics: Palatal expanders braces, aligners, and retainers.
    • Periodontics: Scaling and root planning gum grafting, periodontal surgery, and the placement of implants (if the implant is certified by the institution).
    • Prosthodontics: Dental bridges and dentures and dental implants

Based on the National Association of Dental Implants, These procedures are classified into three types of insurance coverage to pay for: preventative care, basic treatments, and the most important. Most insurance plans pay for 100% of preventative treatment. The most basic dental procedures such as tooth extractions, fillings, root canals, and gum disease treatments may be insured at a lower percentage of about 80 percent or less. Dentures, crowns, or implants can be among the most important procedures typically covered in the lowest amount of 50% or less. It is normal in dental insurance policies to require a waiting time of one year or less before covering major procedures such as dental implants. Make sure you contact your insurance company to learn about the waiting time and whether they will offer coverage for major dental procedures, like implants.

    Different types of insurance plans

When looking for dental insurance, you’ll be required to determine the kind of plan most suitable for your needs. Dental Maintenance Organization (DMO) and Dental Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) are two of the most commonly used plans. These dental HMO Plans are a less expensive option. You can pick your primary dentist but require an appointment from the primary dentist before you consult a dentist. In the case of a PPO plan, there is no need for the referral of dentists and the costs are less when you choose a dentist within the network. Dental Indemnity Plans are another insurance option that permits patients to visit any dentist in your state or the United States. A referral to a dentist or a specialist in dentistry is not required.

    Full Coverage Dental Insurance

    • Main Services Aflac offers dental insurance, which includes implants. Additionally, we cover endodontics, periodontics, dentures, oral surgery and anesthesia. This is an excellent alternative if you’re seeking dental insurance that covers permanent dentures.
    • No waiting period: Some of our routine preventative services, such as dentist insurance to cover fillings, are available without waiting (subject to restrictions and exclusions). We suggest you talk to an agent to find out how Aflac can meet your particular needs.
    • Dental Insurance may cover braces if you decide to opt for Orthodontic Advantages.

Dental Insurance that Covers Implants as well as Dentures

Implants for dental use are a great option in the event of a missing tooth or severely damaged tooth. Implants have high success rates and could last for the rest of your life. A dental insurance policy covering implants could be extremely beneficial if you’re having difficulty chewing your food properly or experience pain with dentures.

In contrast, dentures are a great option when your teeth are loose and you feel them shift. If you suffer from frequent gum pain or sensitive teeth, selecting a dental insurance plan that covers dentures is vital.

Some dental insurances do not cover dentures and implants. We advise you to take a closer to examine the options available to you.

    What are the Other options?

If you’re not covered by insurance, it’s the best time to look for an insurance plan within your budget. Dental insurance is a way to cover regular dental visits that are essential to maintain good dental health. It also reduces the expense of more complex procedures such as dental implants. But what happens if you cannot cover the cost of insurance? Talk to your dentist about alternatives to financing, and they might suggest an option for payment plans which allow the cost to be divided into installments. The dentist can also put you in touch with companies that offer payment plans for financial reasons (Care Credit) for oral dental treatments.

A tooth that is missing or damaged can make you feel embarrassed regarding your appearance. Dental implants are a solution that will give you an attractive smile. Although the cost of treatment might be intimidating initially, a dental insurance plan will help pay for the procedure. Make sure you check whether the current health insurance plan or dental insurance will cover dental implants. If you’ve been on the plan for more than an entire year, you could be surprised to discover that it is!
