For those who are new to the world of stones and know nothing about Travertine, you are missing a beautiful natural stone. Let us start by talking about Travertine. It is a type of Limestone that is formed by mineral deposits from natural mineral lakes and springs, especially hot springs. It will not be wrong to say that Travertine is a pre-stage of Limestone. The sediment deposits earn them the name sedimentary rocks. They are created by rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate which is also known as calcite. Other minerals bond with calcite to create unique vein patterns that give Travertine a distinctive feature. Travertine is processed into tiles and pavers for use in residential and commercial building constructions.

Are Travertine Tiles and Pavers different?

The only difference between Travertine Tiles and Travertine Pavers is their thickness. Travertine Tiles thickness starts from 12mm whereas Travertine Pavers have a thickness of 30 mm. The thickness of the stones influences their application. For instance, tiles are used indoors, on walls, in décor trims, fireplaces, or in low-traffic outdoor spaces. Travertine Pavers with a thickness of 30mm and more are used outdoors in places like walkways, patios, alfresco, courtyards, balconies etc. Apart from their thickness, there is no difference in the material, colour, or finish.

    How Travertine Tiles are beneficial?

There are many reasons you cannot stop loving Travertine Tiles and Pavers. Here are the superb benefits you can gain from this natural stone:

    Appearance of Travertine Tiles

Travertine has a marble-like appearance in balmy, earthy tones. Their luxurious look makes them one of the most desirable stones on the planet. Unfilled Travertine with openings on its surface offers a provincial, matured look to the stone which is ideal for outdoor areas like walkways or pool surrounds. The honed finish Travertine has a matte finish without the shine of a polished stone. It lends an unpretentious warmth to indoor spaces. In general, the delicate neutral tones accentuate each space with cosiness and warmth. The best part about Travertine Tiles & Pavers is that they have natural variations, and no two stones look alike. This brings a more natural feel to every space, connecting you to the elements of nature.

    Incredible strength of Travertine Tiles

After Granite, Travertine is one of the hardest materials and is renowned for its density. It can endure harsh weather and heavy foot traffic without cracking, chipping, or giving way. Therefore, is it used so frequently in patios, courtyards, and even fireplaces. Travertine pavers and tiles can last a lifetime if placed and maintained appropriately! That certainly sounds like a good return on investment.

Travertine Tiles – Safe and Slip-Resistant

The natural texture on the surface of Travertine Tile and Pavers offers a decent grip. This averts the perils of slipping on floors or poolside. Likewise, Travertine tile and pavers being heat safe, do not get sweltering in the sun, and are agreeable to stroll on. Their imperviousness to fire implies they do not break, and you need not bother with extra security layers in chimneys. If this does not captivate you to go for Travertine, then we do not have the foggiest idea what will.

    Travertine Tiles- Simple to maintain

Who does not like a hassle-free stone? Travertine is much more popular because it is resistant to fading, scratching, dampness, and fire. Travertine Tile are a worry-free investment because it only needs occasional sealing or basic cleaning to maintain their sheen and keep dust or debris at bay. Likewise, Travertine Pavers do not demand high maintenance. Post a power wash or repair of the stone, you might need to apply a coating of sealant. Do check with your tiler or stone supplier for the kind of sealing your Travertine Tile and Pavers need.

    Travertine Tiles are Reasonable

If you need the excellence of a natural stone but the cost is a deterrent, then Travertine Tile and Pavers are the ideal options. The lavish-looking stones are more economical than marble and granite. A gorgeous stone for your property at the cost of marble seems like a take bargain. Isn’t it?

    Simple to cut Travertine Tiles

Travertine is not difficult to cut and shape. This property of the stone functions admirably in little private spots. Property holders can occupy odd-formed spaces without problems.

Several options to choose from Travertine

Travertine comes in various finishes and colour tones that are fit for various applications. The stone comes in honed & filled and tumbled & unfilled finish, each with its own allure and significance. For instance, Honed Travertine gives a tasteful look with its smooth surface and is preferably for indoor use. Unfilled and Tumbled Travertine makes an exemplary look given its tough surface and unfilled openings. Various choice of finishes is a benefit for every home venture. Do we have to say more?

Travertine Tiles – Installing over concrete

With growing expectations for transforming extended spaces into designer exteriors, outdoor tiles have gradually become an integral part of the design of home/ office outdoor landscaping and styling. Whether for entertainment, relaxation or utility, outdoor escapes are more important than ever. Homeowners, renovators, and designers prefer using natural stone textures to add elements of elegance and magnificence to exterior surfaces and flooring.

     Check for Drainage Issues

Pool paver ideally should be slightly inclined to water runoff. Therefore, review the region you wish to install pool pavers in. In case the slope is missing, then water might leak through the pavers. Due to the existing cement, you might incur seepage issues and water stagnation where you do not need it.

     Clean the Surface

You can use a pressure washer to shoot all that grime off the current substantial surface and set it up for the new paver tiles. You must wait for the surface to dry completely prior to starting work on introducing the pavers. Cleaning the concrete base is important before pool paver installation since it ensures no unwanted elements remain on the surface.

    Laying the Travertine Tiles

If you are using a sand set method here is the procedure:

    1. Put a layer of 1-inch sand bedding layer between the underlying concrete and pavers. This process is akin to a standard paver installation.
    2. Now place holes at low spots. Doing this will allow the water seeping into the joints to escape.
    3. Then place the pool paver as per the instructions given.

If you are using a mortar set method, here is the procedure:

    1. Firstly, clean the concrete surface of all debris, dirt, and oil, with a pressure washer. Allow the surface to dry.
    2. Now place half an inch of mortar underneath each paver, clinging it to the concrete. Please note that the mortar stays wet for the application. To ensure this happens, work in smalls areas little by little.
    3. Then place the same mortar into the joints around each paver.
    4. After the mortar dries, with the help of a brush or striking tool, remove the excess mortar.

Cover the current cement with a coarse sand layer that is between a half-inch and 1 inch down. This gives a strong groundwork to your pavers.

    Overall

In all, it is a win-win if you get Travertine Tiles and Pavers. The natural stone is the epitome of beauty and grace that brings several advantages to your property. With incredible durability, fire resistance, minimal maintenance, and slip resistance, Travertine Tiles and pavers are best for both indoor and outdoor applications.
